Long before Chagrin Homes had a name, many of the values behind it were being shaped through the work of Fred Shafer, father of co-founder Sebastian Shafer.
For more than twenty-five years, Fred built a respected name in Northeast Ohio through custom cabinetry, finish carpentry, remodeling, and residential construction. His reputation was earned through quality work, honest relationships, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Sebastian began learning the trades alongside his father at a young age, gaining firsthand experience and seeing what it meant to take pride in the details, respect the customer, and build a name people could trust. Those lessons continue to influence the standards he brings to Chagrin Homes today.
Today, the original Reliable Contracting sign hangs at the center of our shop. It is a daily reminder of where these standards came from and why they still matter.
Chagrin Homes may be a newer name, but it is built on years of experience, family influence, and a shared belief that quality work, strong relationships, and proper execution are the foundation of a good name.

President and Co-Founder
Chuck Tatonetti brings more than fourteen years of experience in residential remodeling, construction management, and project oversight to Chagrin Homes. His background includes managing hundreds of kitchen renovations and interior remodeling projects throughout Northeast Ohio.
As President and Co-Founder, Chuck focuses on project planning, client relationships, field operations, and building a company known for clear communication, organized execution, and quality work.
Sebastian Shafer
Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder
Sebastian Shafer brings a hands-on background in custom cabinetry, finish carpentry, remodeling, and field operations. He began learning the trades at fourteen alongside his father, Fred Shafer, at Reliable Contracting, where he developed a strong understanding of cabinetry construction, precision, quality control, and jobsite standards.
As Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder, Sebastian oversees day-to-day operations, project execution, trade coordination, and quality standards, helping ensure each project is organized, properly managed, and completed with the level of detail Chagrin Homes expects.
